The map shows percentage change of detected illegal stays between 2012 and 2013 in each EU and EFTA member country. The countries are grouped by the total number of detected stays in 2013.
If we count only countries with 50,000 or more detections, only Germany (20%) and Austria (13%) had significant rise in this short period.
Among all EU and EFTA countries, Bulgaria had the highest change (96%) following by Malta (55), Hungary (37), Denmark (37) and Norway (28).
It’s interesting, Italy and Greece, two countries that had a lot problem with illegal immigration in recent time, gained significant decreases - probably because the immigrants avoided to stay there and headed straight to the north.
