The Scottish Government EU Office is now looking for an Events and Visits Manager based Brussels.
The Events and Visits Manager will be responsible for organising and delivering a programme of policy and cultural events which aim to raise the profile and reputation of Scotland within the EU and to promote the Scottish Government's EU priorities. The job holder will work with senior managers and policy officers to create and deliver a programme of Ministerial and Scottish Government official visits to Brussels.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
Creation and delivery of a programme of high-quality policy events for the Scottish Government in Brussels;
Creation and delivery of a programme of promotional and cultural events in Brussels, for example around Scotland’s Winter Festivals and Themed Years;
Creation and delivery of visit programmes for Ministers, senior officials and other visitors to Brussels;
Work with the Government’s International Marketing team to develop promotional materials and ensure consistency in promoting Scotland abroad;
Responsibility for managing the office’s events budget;
Line management responsibility for 2 members of staff.
Required Experience amp; Skills
Essential:
Previous relevant experience in events management, planning and delivery;
Demonstrated experience in resource or budget management;
Excellent interpersonal, customer handling and communication skills;
Strong planning, prioritisation, organisational and self-management skills;
Proficiency in written and spoken English;
Strong knowledge of French and/or Dutch;
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office software and experience of social media;
Key Civil Service competencies: Managing a Quality Service; Collaborating and Partnering; Seeing the Big Picture, Delivering at Pace, Engaging Internationally; Delivering Value for Money.
Desirable:
A solid understanding of Scottish affairs, Scottish culture and the Scottish Government’s EU priorities;
Previous line management experience would be an advantage.
Terms and Conditions
This is a four year fixed term contract, for 5 working days (36.25 hours net) per week.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background checks and security clearance.
The monthly salary for this position is € 2.736,57 gross, B3 (L) level (The UK Missions in Belgium salaries are not subject to annual indexation).
Please note that Belgian nationals will be paid their salary gross and are expected to comply with their tax obligations through completion of a tax return to the Belgian authorities. Non-Belgian nationals will receive their salary net, minus the deduction of an equivalent level of Belgian tax retained at source. Further information on this will be given to candidates during the recruitment process.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Belgium is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Belgian employment law.
