As part of the Initiative for Humanities, Education, and the Arts, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce the establishment of a Policy Fellowship in the Humanities and Education, for an early-career professional with experience or training in higher education who is interested in transitioning to a career in public policy and administration. While in residence, the Fellow will work with senior scholars and policy experts on critical national and international issues related to humanistic and social scientific research, the strength of artistic and cultural institutions, and the role of education in a well-functioning democracy.The focus of the work will be on one or more of the ongoing projects in the Academy’s Programs on Humanities, Education, and the Arts, to which the Fellow will contribute substantively. The overall objectives of the Policy Fellowship are:
- To provide a setting and resources for an early-career professional to develop expertise on issues of educational, social, and cultural policy;
- To increase the cadre of young professionals who are engaged in substantive discussion of important topics related to humanistic, social scientific and educational institutions and research; and
- To increase the capacity of the Academy to pursue projects and studies in the humanities, education, and the arts.
Terms: The appointment is for a two-year term (with a possibility of renewal) to begin no later than August 1, 2015 at the Academy in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Stipend is competitive and commensurate with experience.
