Advertisement for the post of Junior Research Fellow
The Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore invites
applications from prospective candidates for the post of Junior Research Fellow for the research project “Avian Frugivores - Understanding patterns of range and richness in the Western Ghats” funded by the Department of Science and Technology.

Brief Job Description:
The project will commence in January 2014 and aims to understand the factors (both
environmental and species-specific) that determine the distribution of bird species in the Western Ghats, with a special focus on avian frugivores. The project will involve field work including bird transects and fruit tree watches, as well as data management and analysis.
Qualifications and requirements:
MSc in Wildlife Biology/Ecology/Zoology/Botany/Environmental Science/Life Sciences with excellent bird identification skills (both visual and aural) and a demonstrated ability to plan and carry out field surveys independently. Knowledge of languages such as Tamil/Malayalam/ Kannada/ Marathi will be an added advantage.
Project duration: 9 months
Fellowship: Rs. 16,000 + HRA (@30%)
